Una Healy - The next IRISH country star?

Post by livewire » Sun Nov 13, 2016 9:25 pm

We've seen acts switch across to "country" probably with C2C exposure opportunities on their horizon.
Honey Ryder Folk/Rock turned country. Balsamo Deighton went from Pop/Rock/Americana to country.
This year has felt like every week an new act has appeared (especially females) claiming to be country.

Is Una Healy a former member of English–Irish girl POP group The Saturdays set to become a new IRISH country star.
She is currently in the UK but we can't claim her as a UK Artist (born Thurles, County Tipperary)

She is bringing out an album in on Feb 10, 2017 called "The Waiting Game"

Taking on a self-proclaimed "singer-songwriter acoustic vibe"
The singer signed a deal with Decca Records (the home of The Shires) back in August, hoping to echo the folksy Celtic music she grew up with.

Country Credentials:
A) Covered Forever and Ever, Amen (Forever Country Cover Series)

B) On The Waiting Game, Una has worked with Ben Earle from The Shires

C) The forthcoming single Stay My Love is a collaboration with Sam Palladio (aka Gunner), star of the hit US TV series Nashville.

D) Recent tour supports include Ward Thomas and Maddie & Tae

Una commented: "The songs were all written from the heart and I hope people can relate to them. The sound of the album is very true to my roots and is a return to the music I've always loved."

Sounds just as "country" as The Shires or Ward Thomas!
