The Americana - who's going?

Postby lo&m » Sun Jun 29, 2014 9:12 pm

No longer at Newark. First year in its new venue, Prestwold Park, near Leicester.
Headliners
MOD all star band
Toni Willé (Pussycat)
Chas 'n' Dave
Joe Brown has been in the promo advertising but he's not listed on the website so I don't know if he's still on. I hope so.

Forum members on stage
Chuck Micallef
Roger Humphries
Doggone Honkabilly
T-Bone

Look out for
The Country Sisters
Ward Thomas
Dixie Boys (nothing to do with our esteemed former moderator, they''re from Portugal)

So apart from this moderator, anybody else going?

I've only been to one Americana, in the year that Danni Leigh was headlining. She turned up, did one song, said she wasn't well and left the stage. Her backing band had to do the set (they were good though!)

I'm not too keen on the line up this year, especially the headliners - not enough country music.

Not one of the classic years to be sure. Still enough country content to keep me happy although it has never an out-and-out country festival. I am curious as to what a Portuguese country band looks like.

Enjoy it LO&M! Let us know how it goes down.
I could not see much on the line up that appealed to me. I'd like to see ward Thomas, but not enough of a draw for me.
Aren't The Country sisters more a novelty act, best known for wearing few clothes? Maybe that is unfair?

Portugese band could be interesting. I recall there was a Bulgarian female Bluegrass singer who had an album out some years back, & she was pretty good!
